Patricia Recommends…

There have been things I’ve run across that have personally helped me or that I use for reference manuals… Music I’ve enjoyed that soothed my mind… Things that I’ve found valuable along the path…  (Keep check on this page because more will be added along the way.)  All of these are in no particular order. (Ignore the ‘Look Inside’ above some of them, because the pictures are copied from Amazon and they are not linked.)

The Science of Compassion by Gregg Braden
Before the God Code, before Gregg Braden became a metaphysical rock star (well deserved in my opinion) he wrote this book in 1997. I discovered it in 1999 – a magical and often painful year. We were all up to ‘here’ in shift, much like these times of confusion and change. I absolutely can not recommend this book enough. Not as intellectual fodder, but as a map or a guideline to add to one’s foundation for living. Truly Living.

Reiki 1st & 2nd Degree Manual by William RandReiki The Healing Touch; First & Second Degree Manual by William Rand
This is an excellent, simple but vast book that can guide you through using Reiki while developing your own style. I use to buy these by the box and give them out to all my students. Even if you are not teaching, buy the teachers manual because of its spiral binding. It makes it much easier to use, expecially the hand position pages. You can order this from his website or other outlets such as Amazon, etc.

Essential Reiki by Diane SteinEssential Reiki by Diane Stein
I did not discover this book until years after I was attuned to Reiki. Everyone asked me if I had read it… So I got it and read it.  I found it both interesting and challenging. I do not agree with everything in this book, but I’m damn glad she wrote it.

All Women Are Healers by Diane SteinAll Women Are Healers by Diane Stein
Personally I feel this book should be called All Humans Are Healers, but I did not write it. I can only encourage you to get past the title and ignore the very STRONG thread throughout the book that basically disregards men. I’ve recommended many men read this. Many could not get past the first few pages because of her tone about men. (Honestly, even I was offended.) However, those men and women who can see this as a valuable message about healers, being a healer and about human potential will find this an excellent read. A beautiful opportunity to separate the message from the messenger and mine pure gold for yourself and your life.

Living in the Light by Shakti GawainLiving in the Light by Shakti Gawain
I read the original version in 1992 and there have been many updated publications since then. (The 25th anniversary edition was released in 2011.)  I don’t know if it has been changed much with time, but the original can alter lives. It has altered lives, including mine. Much of what is taken for granted today comes from ‘groundbreaking’ ideas during their time. However, returning to our roots is always a good thing to do every now and then.

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise HayYou Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
I read this in the mid to late 80’s, and like the millions since then, found it to be a fantastic story and guide. In the next century I read it again. An updated version and found this copy to be just different enough that I recommend people read the original (white cover with a rainbow heart ). Good news is that you’ll save money ordering a used book. Or you might even stumble over it at a yard sale. I have and I buy them every time so I have them to give away. And no, I don’t have any copies right now to give you. I wish I did! In the back of this book is a reference of illnesses, injuries and disease and their probable cause and a new thought process you can engage in to assist yourself in healing.

Animal Speak by Ted AndrewsAnimal Speak by Ted Andrews
Ever wonder why you keep noticing certain animals or birds? Why every time you turn around there is a butterfly or dragonfly? Get this book and keep it handy. It tells you what ‘medicine’ these things are bringing to you. It lists the Native American, other aboriginal and cultural wisdom about animals, insects, and birds and what medicine they represent and what is going on in your life that you need such medicine. I repeat… Get this book and keep it handy!

Buffalo Woman Comes Singing; The Spirit Song of a Rainbow Medicine Woman by Brook Medicine EagleBuffalo Woman Comes Singing; The Spirit Song of a Rainbow Medicine Woman by Brooke Medicine Eagle
This book is wonderful for every woman no matter what phase of life they are in. There is so much for us modern women to learn about being a woman and honoring that honor. From the energy of femininity to loving our bodies and every cycle it goes through with us.

IIt’s a Guy Thing by David Deidat’s a Guy Thing: A Owner’s Manual for Women by David Deida
This is a book for both men and women, however, women who read this honestly and with an open mind will find more truth about them than about the men in their lives. Personally, I was on page 3 when I literally threw the book across the room thinking “What a crock of shit! This is a book about excuses for men being jerks!” Of course, I realized while it was sailing through the air that if it has provoked such a strong reaction in me there must be something in it that I did not want to face. So, I went and picked it up and read it cover to cover with close attention and focus. Yep, I learned more about myself reading this book than probably anything ever.

The Red Book by Sera BeakThe Red Book: A Deliciously Unorthodox Approach to Igniting Your Spark by Sera Beak
This book was suggested to me by a client, the authors aunt. I read it out of politeness. I am so very glad I did. This young woman has so much wisdom and wit. I think this should required reading for everyone – men and women!

Spiritual Divorce by Debbie FordSpiritual Divorce by Debbie Ford
This book is about change. Really any kind of change in our lives. Change is painful and often makes us feel like a victim. So, if you’ve ever had a relationship end, had a job you loved end, had friendships end… this is a fantastic book to read. It will help you get your healthiest perspective and assist you in moving past the trauma. Even it those ending were years ago.

The Four Agreements by Don Luis Ruiz

The Four Agreements by Don Luis Ruiz
Get it. Read it. Live it. Seriously. Just do it. Now. This is the most civilized, empowering book I’ve ever read. (And I’ve read a lot!)

The Invitation by Oriah Mountain DreamerThe Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer
We should all be so clear and so internally bold. If you are in a relationship, want to be in a relationship, or have been in a relationship this book is for you.  So yea, this book is for you too.

My Miracle Manifestation Manual by Jacquelyn AldanaMy Miracle Manifestation Manual by Jacquelyn Aldana
Jacquelyn wrote the book 15 Minute Miracle Revealed about how she came up with this life saving manual during the most devastating time of her life. (Jacquelyn is a warm and wonderful woman by the way. Just a doll!)  I suggest you read that book, however, you can get this Manifestation Manual and get the basics of her story. This is a fill in the blank book (with directions and much wonderful cheerleading included) that can change your life. Will change your life if you do it. Not just in times of crisis but daily. You can do this while drinking your coffee in the morning and will be finished with it before you are done with the coffee. I’ve never come across anything so concise and precise and EASY to help one focus and the manifestation follows…. Like Nike, Just Do It! Visit Jacquline’s website

Journey of the Souls by Michael Newton

Journey of the Souls; Case Studies of Lives Between Lives
 by Michael Newton
I personally loved this book because it confirmed and stated eloquently what I already knew about ‘in between lives’ as I thought of it. Of course I did, we all like to be right, eh? This is an amazingly detailed book about what we do between lives, how we choose the people in our lives each time and how we go about creating the outline for our next incarnation. If you are interested in this subject or have any grief issues about someone passing on, this is an excellent read. The fact that it is written by a psychiatrist on staff at Harvard is bonus.

IIshmaelshmal; An adventure of mind & spirit by Daniel Quinn
This is a great book that will expand your mind and challenge your assumptions, and seriously add to your wisdom base. The Amazon write up on this book says it really well “The narrator of this extraordinary tale is a man in search for truth. He answers an ad in a local newspaper from a teacher looking for serious pupils, only to find himself alone in an abandoned office with a full-grown gorilla who is nibbling delicately on a slender branch. “You are the teacher?” he asks incredulously. “I am the teacher,” the gorilla replies. Ishmael is a creature of immense wisdom and he has a story to tell, one that no other human being has ever heard.” Yea, sounds a bit weird, but so does most of the real truths about this Universe we live in.

Really, anything by Steve Halpern is going to be something you’ll enjoy. I particularly like this one.

Reiki Healing Hands by Anuvida & Nik TyndallReiki Healing Hands by Anuvida & Nik Tyndall
I bought this when it was a cassette! The music is wonderful and assists in powerful relaxation. It also has a tinkling bell every 5 minutes (incorporated into the melody) so if you are doing Reiki with yourself or on someone else you know when to change hand positions. Reiki, and all energy medicine, is too often rushed through. This 50 minute CD is the perfect amount of time for a session. And if you have Reiki students it is perfect for their practice time – they can be into the energy and not clock watching. The same for us Reiki Masters too! An added bonus… when you have done as many 100’s of hours of sessions with this CD as I have (actually you don’t have to have done that many) it becomes a wonderful meditation CD because your body is already programed to relax while it is playing.

Chakra Chants by Jonathan Goldman

Chakra Chants by Jonathan Goldman
Keep this one playing during the day when at your desk or at home. Amazing peace floating through the air and into all the bodies it touches.  (I have found all his CD’s really good, but this one is my favorite.)
